In our urban and historical bar you can relax and be pampered by the bartender and did you know that our bar is named after the well-known industrial pioneer and merchant Wilhelm Overbeck.

Who was Wilhelm Overbeck?
Wilhelm Overbeck laid the foundation stone for the rise of Dortmund's brewing industry to become a major industry of international standing.
Originally, the Overbeck family founded a beer vinegar factory on Osthellenweg in Dortmund, but shortly after the takeover by their son Wilhelm Overbeck in 1840, Frabik was completely converted to a pure beer brewery - in Bavarian style. After all, Dortmund export was only brewed with bottom-fermented yeast.
As a visionary, Overbeck used particularly modern and innovative methods for brewing beer for the time. Industrial steam engines and cooling systems moved into the factory.
About 10 years later, the Löwen brewery was the most successful brewery in Dortmund and already shipped the produced beer beyond the national borders.
Wilhelm Overbeck is also known as the "Dortmunder Lichterkönig", because together with a chemist friend they also founded a factory for the production of stearin and soaps.
It is not without reason that Wilhelm Overbeck is still considered an honorary citizen of the city of Dortmund.
But unfortunately his luck didn't make it beyond the Second World War, because of the loss of turnover after that the Löwenbrauerei was taken over by its biggest competitor of the Dortmunder Union-Brauerei.
